Each year during the second Wednesday of August San Onofre State Beach in San Clemente is jam packed to the rafters with VW buses! This is all in honor of the movie Big Wednesday... if you haven't seen it you seriously need to before heading down to the beach. The philosophy is ditch work, grab your board and head down to the beach.
Looks great. Firstly, I wish I had a VW (did hire one last week for a week though - not quite as good as owning one but it was fun all the same). Secondly, I would have to set up a meet like that near here.
